MONIN's BarBarista Challenge

Back for its second year, the UK’s only BarBarista competition is searching for fresh talent.

MONIN, the flavour experts, are calling for the nation’s most creative bartenders and baristas to come together to create the UK’s best coffee cocktail.

In association with UK Coffee Week, MONIN’s BarBarista Challenge pairs professional bartenders with baristas, giving them the opportunity to get creative in fresh new ways. Competitors can exchange knowledge, recipes and concepts as they compete to be crowned winner of the 2019 edition of the contest.

Building on the success of the competition, which was launched last year, the aim is to showcase industry talent from across the country, so for the first time, MONIN has introduced three regional heats – Bristol, London and Manchester. The three cities will play host to the first stage of the coffee cocktail competition, before an exciting London finale, that will see competitors push the boundaries of modern mixology in a live tournament.

To be in with a chance of taking the title and winning a trip to Milan, during the Milan Coffee Festival, solo entrants must submit a bespoke coffee cocktail recipe along with a brief description and details of the MONIN flavours used, before the competition closing date on 12^th August 2019^*. Entrants wishing to compete as a duo must also submit their application form by 12^th August, but are not required to submit a recipe at this stage.

“BarBarista is so much more than a competition. It brings together the expertise of two diverse sectors, who have differing skill sets, but who complement each other perfectly.

“With more than 150 flavours to choose from in the MONIN range, we’re excited to see what this year’s competition brings, and to tasting new coffee-cocktail combinations. ^*Solo entrants will be paired up with partners by MONIN based on location. MONIN will share contact details so the new pair can create their recipe together.
